¶ Citation Lifecycle & Screening KPIs
As your review progresses, every citation moves through a lifecycle — from unscreened, through
the two screening stages, into extraction and consolidation. The Citation Lifecycle Management
screen lets you see and steer where each one is.
Who can do this: Leaders (to promote/demote); everyone can view status.
¶ Open It
From your project, open Project Dashboard (the project menu item that opens
/projects/<id>/citation_lifecycle_management) — clicking a project's name also lands here. Choose the
Citation Lifecycle Management tab; its heading reads "Promote or demote citations."
Search, sort, and promote/demote citations across the whole lifecycle.
¶ The Status Codes
Each citation has a screening status. You can filter by it with status:<code>:

¶ Searching
Press / to focus the search box, then:
- Plain text searches titles, authors, and other fields.
- Field queries:
title:diabetes,author:smith,status:asu. Quote phrases with spaces:
author:"John Smith",title:"machine learning". - Negation:
!author:smithexcludes matches. - AND / OR: the Match toggle controls whether multiple terms must all match (AND) or any
match (OR). Repeating a field (e.g.title:assay title:pcr) requires both.
The table shows each citation's Added On, identifiers, Abstract / Fulltext / Extraction /
Consolidation qualifications, overall Status, and Extraction/Consolidated counts.
¶ Promote or Demote
Use Select on a row (and the bulk actions) to promote a citation forward or demote it
back a stage — handy for correcting a mis-screen or pushing an accepted study into extraction. Use
Details to inspect a citation in place.
¶ Screening KPIs & Progress
- The screenings themselves report KPIs (how many are screened, partially screened, in conflict,
and remaining) so you can gauge progress. - For richer team metrics — throughput by person, pending work, and approval times — see the

¶ Exporting Screening Data
You can export your screening decisions (labels, reasons, tags) from the screening page via
Export Screening Data. The export runs in the background and VADRR emails you the file when
it's ready. To export citation labels specifically, see Exports.
