Data Extraction Overview
Data extraction is the process of pulling structured information from each included study into VADRR. Each reviewer gets an Extraction — a personal data-entry task for one study — and fills in the fields defined by your Extraction Form.
Key Concepts
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| Extraction Form | The template that defines what data to collect. A project has one or more forms, each with multiple sections. |
| Extraction | One reviewer's copy of the form, filled in for one specific study. |
| Section | A logical grouping of fields within the form (e.g., "Study Characteristics", "Outcomes"). |
| Type1 section | A table/matrix section with rows (e.g., arms, populations) and columns (measures). |
| Type2 section | Narrative question fields (text boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons). |
| Type3 section | Statistical result sections (comparisons, arms, outcomes, numerical measures). |
Extraction Workflow
Create form → Assign extractions → Reviewers complete → Leader reviews → Approve → Consolidate
Multiple reviewers can be assigned the same study (for double-data-entry). Their separate extractions are later consolidated into a single agreed-upon record.
