Consolidation Overview

Consolidation is the process of merging extraction data from multiple reviewers into one authoritative, agreed-upon record for each study.

When two (or more) reviewers independently extract data from the same paper, their individual extractions may differ. Consolidation gives a designated person — a Consolidator or Leader — a side-by-side view of all reviewer answers and the ability to choose the correct value for each field.

When to Consolidate

Consolidation makes sense when you have used double-data-entry — where the same study is assigned to two reviewers to catch errors. After both extractions reach Awaiting Review status, a Consolidator can begin the consolidation process.

The Consolidated Record

The output of consolidation is a single extraction record that becomes the definitive version for that study. This consolidated record is used in results analysis, SR360 metadata, and FHIR exports.
