Messaging & Chat
VADRR includes a built-in messaging system for team communication within projects.
Where Messages Appear
Messages are contextual — they are attached to specific parts of the project:

| Project-level | Project → Chat (general project discussion) |
| Extraction-level | Inside an extraction → Messages tab (discussion about a specific study) |
| Citation-level | Inside a citation detail → Messages tab |
Sending a Message
- Navigate to the relevant chat area.
- Type your message in the text box at the bottom.
- Press Enter or click Send.
Messages appear in real time for other team members viewing the same chat.
@Mentions
To notify a specific team member, type @ followed by their username. They will receive an unread notification.
Reactions
Hover over any message and click the emoji icon to react with an emoji. Reactions are visible to all team members.
Pinning Messages
To pin an important message for easy reference:
- Hover over the message.
- Click the pin icon.
- Pinned messages appear in a dedicated pinned section at the top of the chat.
Unread Indicators
Messages you haven't read are marked with a badge count on the chat icon. Click into the chat to mark messages as read.
